Starting recovery mode boots your server into a special troubleshooting environment, allowing you to perform maintenance tasks like resetting a password or repairing a broken configuration. The process is initiated from your PowerPanel.
Navigate to the PowerPanel and go to Hardware -> Server Management
.
Next to the server you need to put into rescue, click the Actions button and select Start Rescue Mode from the dropdown menu.
A new page will appear where you need to configure the rescue session:
Rescue Type: Choose between the Standard Rescue System
(for Linux/Windows troubleshooting) or Acronis Bare-Metal Restore
.
E-mail: This field will be pre-filled with your account email.
Password: Enter your desired password for the recovery session in the last two fields.
After you have filled in all the fields correctly, click Next to initiate the process.
Boot Time: It may take up to 20-30 minutes for the rescue system to load fully. You will receive an email once it is active.
Windows Password Requirement: When starting rescue for a Windows server, the password you set must be exactly 8 characters long.
