Support Scope & Responsibilities
This overview clarifies the division of responsibilities between Server4You and you as the server administrator, ensuring hardware integrity and reliable network connectivity.
1. Server Administrator's Responsibility
As a provider of dedicated and virtual servers, we provide you with full root-level access. This gives you maximum freedom, but also defines your area of responsibility regarding the software layer.
Your Areas of Responsibility:
•Operating System & Software
Administration of the OS, including security updates, firewall configurations, and third-party applications.
•Health Monitoring
Monitoring server health (e.g., S.M.A.R.T. values). While we verify hardware at handover, ongoing monitoring is your task.
•Data Protection
Maintaining regular backups. Please note that RAID is a redundancy measure for uptime, not a substitute for a backup.
2. The Server4You Support Scope
Server4You is responsible for the physical hardware integrity and the network connectivity up to the server's switch port.
Our Commitment to You:
•Hardware Replacement (Break-Fix)
Immediate replacement of faulty hardware components (CPUs, RAM, Drives) at no additional cost.
•Network Integrity
Guaranteeing a stable connection up to your switch port and managing the data center's global backbone.
•Standardized OS Reinstallation
Providing automated re-installation tools for all supported distributions via our PowerPanel.
3. Professional Recommendations
Acronis Backup: For mission-critical data, we recommend utilizing Acronis Backup. This cloud-based solution ensures your data is safe and easily recoverable.
Data Loss Warning: An OS reinstallation will erase all data on your drives. Always ensure your backups are up to date before initiating a reinstall via PowerPanel.
